Kootenai County Fire & Rescue was formed in 2001 following a merger between Post Falls Fire Department and Kootenai Fire Protective District #1.  The consolidation created one of the largest full service fire districts in the state of Idaho.

The primary functions of Kootenai County Fire & Rescue are to provide fire and emergency response to all residents of our fire district.  But our mission is much greater than that.  We protect lives, property, and the environment with compassion, vigilance, and dedication to excellence.

Our mission encompasses not only Fire and EMS services, but also hazardous materials response, technical rescue, and a wide range of preventative services.
