The brothers and sisters of local 2856 of the International Association of Firefighters would like to take this time and space to acknowledge one of our own.  Engineer Brett Lynch has been given the award of Idaho Firefighter of the Year, 2007, from the Professional Firefighters of Idaho for his work in the IAFF sponsored PEER fitness program.  Brother Lynch has worked tirelessly for years to see that our fire district adopt, and voluntarily participate in, programs designed to get us into the proper health for our jobs.  For his efforts we now have new workout equipment and commitments from many of our own to actively participate in our PEER fitness program.

Brother Lynch was also recognized for his efforts by the American Legion as their Firefighter of the Year of 2007 and he further received the Kootenai County Fire and Rescue Dedication and Devotion award for the year.  The Dedication and Devotion award is the highest award bestowed upon our personnel and Brother Lynch was much deserving.
