POST FALLS, IDAHO, May 5, 2020 -  Kootenai County Fire & Rescue (KCFR) has received official notification from the Idaho Surveying and Rating Bureau, Inc. (ISRB) of an improvement in the Fire District’s Public Protection Classification (PPC) rating.

Most residential and commercial properties within the city limits of Post Falls and Dalton Gardens and/or within 1,000 feet of a fire hydrant will be classified as a rating of 3.  Residents living in the outer areas of the Fire District will continue to be rated as either an 8 or a 9 depending on whether or not they are within 5 road miles of a KCFR Fire Station.  Residents located ten or more road miles from a KCFR Fire Station are rated as a 10.

Our continued three (3) rating demonstrates Kootenai County Fire & Rescue’s commitment to providing exemplary fire protection and suppression services.  Sound fiscal policies have allowed our Fire District to add equipment, facilities, and personnel to meet the growing needs of our community.  Property owners are encouraged to contact their insurance providers to inquire how ratings will impact their premiums.

The ISRB is an independent rate setting organization.  Companies affiliated with the organization and may choose to utilize PPC ratings when setting insurance rates for home and commercial property owners.

Insurance rating inspections occur approximately every ten years.  The most recent rating inspection for KCFR took place in February.  This improvement in our rating was dependent on the dedication and devotion of our staff as well as the efficiency of the 911 Dispatch System and the many Water Districts in the areas we serve.
